Hello everyone, I hope you all are doing great. Today I have a piece of exciting news for all Adobe Illustrator lovers, any guesses? When it's come to digital painting, the rotating canvas is a very useful function for every artist. And it is constantly missing on Adobe Illustrator, but the wait is over now! My Adobe Illustrator CC just got updated yesterday and surprised me with the brand new Rotate View Tool. Today I'll discuss this feature with you guys. So let get started.
Rotate View Tool
Rotate the canvas and change its orientation. All your artboards and visible onscreen objects will be rotated according to the specified angle.
To use the Rotate View tool:
Long-press the Hand tool and click Rotate View tool or press Shift+H.
Click and move the pointer on the canvas to change its orientation.
The canvas is rotated from the centre of the artboard. All drawing and editing features will work the same way as they work in non-rotated mode.
Rotate canvas using the trackpad:
Use the two-finger rotate gesture to change your canvas orientation. To rotate the canvas from that pivot location, place the pivot on the location of the pointer.
Rotate canvas on an angle:
Click the Rotate view angle on the status bar at the bottom and select an angle from the drop-down list.
Choose View > Rotate view and click an angle from the preset list.
Rotate canvas to match along with the selected object:
To rotate the canvas according to the angle of the selected object, choose View > Rotate View to Selection.
Reset the canvas rotation:
To reset the canvas back to the normal view:
Press Command/Ctrl+Shift+1 or press the Escape key.
Tip: If pressing the Escape key does not work for the first time, press Escape to reset the rotation.
Choose View > Reset Rotate View.
To fit the artboard contents on the screen in a rotated view, press Command/Ctrl+0.
Save the rotated view
To save your rotated view as a preset:
Choose View > New View.
Add a name in the dialog that appears and click OK.
